Corktown Homes
When shopping for downtown Toronto homes, Corktown was once a neighbourhood that few buyers would think of, assuming that they had even heard of it. This is in the process of changing in a big way. Just like in every other affordable neighbourhood close to downtown, Corktown’s quaint Victorian mews houses have been garnering much more attention recently. Inexpensive downtown housing is scarce, which means homebuyers are looking beyond the big-name neighbourhoods like Cabbagetown and the Annex, discovering pockets like Corktown in their quest
to live in the heart of the city. But there is much more to this story…
Corktown: Old Toronto Revitalized
Take a stroll through Corktown and you will see signs of renewal all along its fringes. First came the Distillery District project to the southeast, with its Gooderham and Worts Distillery condos and lofts welcoming a multitude of new residents to the area. Next to come is the reshaping of Regent Park to the north. This multi-year mega project is set to rebuild and reintegrate the community with the rest of the city, erasing its stigma of the past.
Finally, the massive West Don Development project is underway at the east end of Corktown, along the banks of the Don River. An entire community will be built on this unutilized land, with hoards of new residents slated to move-in
starting in 2008.
With so much renewal to happen at their steps, homes in Corktown seem destined only to increase their recent popularity. Find your Corktown dream home
