Todmorden MillsTodmorden Village Homes

Straddling the crest of the Don Valley Ravine sits the long sliver of land known as Todmorden Village.  It is a peaceful community, with many Todmorden homes occupying respectably-sized lots with yards backing onto either ravine or parkland, thereby offering residents lots of privacy.  The streets are quite pretty, with large mature trees and a complementary mix of housing styles ranging in age from the very new, to over a century old.

Homes in Todmorden Village are mainly detached, with the exception of the occassional 2-storey brick semi-detached home foundly maingly at the western end of the community (and resembling those found in Leaside).  The detached homes vary greatly in design, ranging from Edwardian and Tudor 2-storey homes, to cozy brick and stone bungalows and Victorian Cottages.  Intermixed with all of these are a number of very nicely constructed newer homes.  Find Your Todmorden Village Dream Home

Todmorden is quite convenient for commuters, offering quick access to the downtown core via the DVP, Bloor Viaduct, and Bayview Extension.  The Danforth subway line is also close by, generally within a 10 minute bus ride from Todmorden when travelling along the major routes.  This Todmorden Village Homesmeans that if you work in midtown or downtown Toronto, you can live along a ravine oasis, and commute to work in under 15 minutes.

The Todmorden community shares its name with the lumber mill, grist mill, and brewery that were built along the floodplain of the Don Valley River in the 1800’s, and the town in England from which one of the Todmorden Mills founders originated.  Though the mills have not been active since the 1920s, the site still serves as a museum, educational facility, and as a home for the East Side Players community theatre productions.

Todmorden Village Real Estate Boundaries

From the map, Todmorden Village is most easily identified by tracing the gap between the Don Valley Parkway and Broadview/O’Connor, starting at the Danforth going north, and then continuing east until Taylor Creek Park (near Woodbine Avenue).

Because Todmorden Village is a fairly low-key neighbourhood, is geographically slender, and borders larger and better-known communities, Todmorden is quite often confused with neighbouring East York, Riverdale, and Parkview Hills.

Homes in Todmorden Village are located within Toronto Real Estate Board District E03
